UGC 2010 EVENT : Seaside Heights To Take It All !

January 23rd 2010 Gamers across the Midwest region gathered to compete in the UGC's first event. With some reputation set at the IGC [Illinois Gaming Circuit] in 2008, the expectations were set high. The featured titles for competition at this event was Halo : CE, Halo 3, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Returning Halo 3 team SeaSide Heights brought a fully loaded and renovated team roster to the event with sights set on capturing yet another title. Double Stuffed Oreo was another team that stood out from the crowd. With a name like Double Stuffed Oreo question began to emerge as to how the title was developed. Their ironic team name provided an epic visual during the games to come.

Many questioned if the stacked roster of SeaSide Heights would sweep the field or if it would be a repeat of last season’s IGC , with the close call from an underdog team. The team that took the Pro team to the second series of the Championship round was back and more confident than ever. Returning with the team name of Redemption and lead by Wiise, Redemption was ready to get their shot to prove they had what it took. The real question was if the roster change by SeaSide Heights would give them the edge they may have been lacking.

Midway into the bracket it was easy to see that the seeded teams were falling into place. Redemption did not drop a game until meeting SeaSideHeights in the winner’s bracket final. After losing the series they were matched against number five seeded double stuffed Oreo for the loser bracket finals. Redemption took action again and defeated Double Stuffed Oreo to advance to the championships. Double Stuffed Oreo finishes up third, an impressive feat for the fresh face in the crowed. A good future is ahead of them and great anticipation waits to see how they will finish in future events. However, they faced a frightening and enormous feat to take out the stellar SeaSideHeights. If Redemption was going to pull this one out they needed to make sure everything was at the highest intensity. The confident SeaSideHeights seemed as if nothing was going to stop them from taking the title once again. That confidence pulled through as they swept Redemption to take the Championship title. Congrats to FearItself, JoeFries, Cloud, and CallMeGod to another victory, and to Redemption for bringing another great fight to the field and keeping up with the pros.

Champions----SeaSideHeights

Runner-Up----Redemption

We are proud to have the members of SeaSideHeights and Redemption compete at our events, and thank you to all those who came out and competed at the Ultimate Gaming Championships.

As a lot of you know FearItself and Cloud have done some major damage in the MLG scene and we wish them the best of luck in the future of their gaming career. Wiise has went on to help lead the yellow dragons to a MLG Doritos Combine victory and Dad_duse helped lead his team Second Nature to a fourth place finish at the Chicago MLG Doritos Combine. Cizzats from Paradigm Shift has also made a bold statement in the MLG Doritos Combine events. Many others such as TFx Nightmare, CallMeGod, and JoeFries are significant figures in either the MLG pro Circuit or the Doritos combine.
